It worked!

I'm not getting to habit of writing something every time I have a craft success but following this morning's hopeless attempt at 'Joy' I'm pleased to announce 'Hope' worked a dream.
I love the interweavedness (no that is not a word) of the letters, it really seems to compliment the design.
Happy days!
Hmm... Wondering if two words could be joined together. The next project make have just been born.

Not as joyful as I was expecting

I have been playing around with wrapping words in wool and asked people to suggest words for me to trial, although crafty I don't have a great imagination, and one such word was 'Joy'.
I foolishly thought that this would be easy, it's three letters after all, how much harder could it be than 'dreams' that I had done in the car? Plenty!
I followed my usual method but it just didn't seem to be going well, the 'J' didn't look right, the 'o' was positively square and don't get me started on the 'y'. I figured it was a lesson learned so persevered anyway.
Then it came to finishing and making the hanger. No matter where I put the thing it toppled. I didn't like the message that an upside down 'joy' would send so had to undo my work- my least favourite part of any craft!
This is the end product, yes it is laid on my dog- he was determined to sit on me, I'm determined to use him as a table- and I don't think it looks as bad as I first thought. As a wise friend told me, there is no such thing as a bad product, only a realisation on how to improve.
Let's 'hope', my next attempt is more successful.

It's been a long time in the making.

I started this piece of craft about two months ago, but as I'm guilty of picking something up until it interests me no more, I put it down when the paint had to dry. As such it sat unfinished in my craft corner for six weeks until I wanted to craft something new but not too complicated once more.
This is the end product. I was happily banging away with hammer and nail until my husband pointed out that power tools were invented for a reason, now I'm thinking I may need to collect some of my own!
It was fairly simple, if time consuming, to make and I'm happy with the result. Hopefully the friend I made it for will like it too. I'm not into art -my students frequently laugh at my attempts of illustrations- I just like things to look nice so feel free to interpret it in your own way. There is no right answer, only love.

It's taken so many attempts but I think I've finally managed it, I have an actual blog, with a title I like, linked to an email account I can access! Let's hope this run at success keeps going
